It’s a painting of our eldest son, Dylan, flying a kite in front of our farm. For me, I wanted to explore the issue of growing up, finding one’s way in the world, and making directional decisions in life, given whatever moral compass our respective families have bestowed upon us throughout our formative childhood period. The boy in the painting is feeling his way forward in time, reaching with his hand to explore the future, while having to look backward (in time) to keep his kite aloft, as he sets out from his family farm.
